MANGALURU: The Gladsom Home for Students, a minor seminary of the Diocese of Mangalore, celebrated its annual ‘Gladsom Day’ with great fervor and a grand cultural showcase on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The event, held at the seminary premises, brought together parents, benefactors, and well-wishers to witness the growth and talents of the young candidates aspiring for priesthood.
Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore, presided over the program. In his address, the Bishop highlighted the multi-dimensional nature of priestly formation. “In the early years of formation, every candidate is molded in human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral areas. Today’s celebration is a testament to that growth,” the Bishop said. He further noted the unique challenges faced by Gen Z candidates and expressed his profound gratitude to formators, parents, and benefactors for their steadfast inspiration and support.

He described it as a celebration of the journey where talented candidates are shaped under the guidance of their directors and spiritual fathers.
The evening was marked by a cultural extravaganza presented by the brothers, including an orchestra, Konkani songs, a mime show, and a skit, showcasing the diverse talents nurtured within the seminary. Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha also felicitated the candidates who excelled in various cultural, sports, and formative activities throughout the year.
